The girl Mi-Jeong is cursed in The Witch Episode 1. Anyone who’s close to her will be dead with a weird way. She’s given the name “Witch”. People avoid her. Dong-Jin is a talented data explorer. He has a great insight and he can know a person’s age just looking at him.
Dong-Jin finds a target in the casino. The guy wears a normal shirt and he doesn’t visit the place often. He almost loses all his money but he doesn’t want to give up. Dong-Jin lets the waitress remind the guy that the place provides free room and food. He can take a break and calm down.
The casino’s goal is to take away all of the gamblers’ money. But Dong-Jin disagrees the plan. He thinks they should let the gamblers visit them constantly. The chairman Jong-Soo hears Dong-Jin’s reverse psychology. He agrees to his plan. The executive thinks it’s a sunny idea. Dong-Jin’s great performance makes chairman want to invest in the sunny idea.
The people notice that the man is selling his car for getting cash. The chairman sighs that desire is a bottomless abyss. He gives Dong-Jin a business card and he invites him to have dinner together. Dong-Jin is going to return home. But he finds out that windshield of his car was smashed. He calls police immediately. The CCTV shows that the culprit smashed the car after he confirmed the number.
The cop thinks the culprit hates Dong-Jin. But Dong-Jin doesn’t know the culprit in the CCTV. The car is broken. Dong-Jin has to take the subway home. He just sits and he hears a familiar name Mi-Jeong. He sees a drunk man tangling the beauty.
The guy forces Mi-Jeong to date him. He doesn’t believe that it’s very dangerous to approach her. He asks her for a reasonable reason to reject him. The student films the guy. Mi-Jeong turns around and she faces the guy. Dong-Jin is shocked when he sees the girl’s face. Because Mi-Jeong is the girl who’s in his memory.
It flashes back. Dong-Jin plays football on the field. He’s attracted by Mi-Jeong who has lunch alone on the bench. She has short hair and she doesn’t wear any makeup. Her beauty cannot be covered. She emits a kind of temperament making boys want to approach her. Dong-Jin’s eyes are fixed on Mi-Jeong since then.
But there’s a rumor about Mi-Jeong in the school. It makes her alone. A rainy day, Mi-Jeong doesn’t take umbrella. A boy named Jung-Hwan shares his umbrella with her. They arrive at Mi-Jeong’s house. Jung-Hwan gives his umbrella to the girl. He runs in the rain. Mi-Jeong walks forward. But Jung-Hwan is hit by the lightning. He’s dead.
The hearse drives around the playground. The classmates mention that there were many similar cases. They return to the classroom and they avoid Mi-Jeong. Dong-Jin sees the tears on Mi-Jeong’s face. The classmates think the accidents in the school are related to the girl. They think anyone who’s related to Mi-Jeong will be cursed. So they call her witch. Dong-Jin thinks it cannot explain that Mi-Jeong is related to the accidents.
The school has a field trip. Dong-Jin takes photos for the classmates. He captures Mi-Jeong who’s reading book alone through the lens. He takes a photo of her. He’s going to check the photo. But a boy was injured and the teacher takes him to go to see a doctor.
Dong-Jin notices that Mi-Jeong is startled to stand up. She shakes and it seems that she’s controlled by her fear. The field trip ends. Dong-Jin goes to develop the photos. He takes a look at Mi-Jeong in the photo. It seems that she’s in a bad mood.
The next day, the injured boy comes to the school with the crutches. He passes by Mi-Jeong and he takes a look at her. He tells other classmates to be careful of Mi-Jeong. Dong-Jin is different from other classmates. He notes that the beauty is in the sun. He asks his mother to donate awnings to the school for making the pretty girl feel comfortable. He sees Mi-Jeong sitting on the bench under the awning. He thinks the awning is a tie of them.
But there’s a boy passing away in the class. The classmates talk about that the boy had an accident at the pharmacy. Someone saw the boy talking with Mi-Jeong. The boy wanted to explain that the classmate who was killed by lightning isn’t related to Mi-Jeong. Mi-Jeong stopped the boy Sang-Ho. She was fast to leave and she told him not to approach her. Sang-Ho rode the bike to chase Mi-Jeong. He left after she ignored her. But he was killed by the falling wire.
The accident makes the rumor convinced. The bench Mi-Jeong sat is carved the bad words. Mi-Jeong leaves the school on a snowy day. Dong-Jin stares at the girl’s back in the classroom. He’s anxious to wait for the order to getting out of the class. He decides to walk to Mi-Jeong after he gets out of the class. He wants to say hello to her. But she doesn’t come back after she left the school. His young boy mind becomes a eternal pity in the end.
Dong-Jin encounters Mi-Jeong again after many years. He believes that it’s an arrangement of fate. He follows the girl to a residential area. He sees her feeding the stray cat. He hears her speaking to the stray cat. Mi-Jeong is tired and she doesn’t want to see anyone. Dong-Jin realizes that Mi-Jeong still lives in the shadow of the curse. He continues to follow her and he takes her home. He believes that everything is meaningful.
The next day, Dong-Jin searches the subway harasser. He finds the footage the students posted. Mi-Jeong got off the subway. The guy wanted to chase her. But he passed away. Dong-Jin meets with his friend the cop Joong-Hyeok at a restaurant.

He wonders if there’re some very special people in the world. He mentions the machine is broken when someone wants to use it. Joong-Hyeok thinks it’s just a coincidence. Dong-Jin thinks about that someone is tangled by the curse law. He thinks he can break the curse if he can find the law. He wants to save the person from the doom.
