Madam Butterfly walks on the street. She takes a look at her watch. She finds out that she’s late. She gets changed. She turns into a beauty Yeon-Woo. The maid waits for Yeon-Woo. She worries about it when Yeon-Woo doesn’t show up.

The lady Mi-Dam shows up. She asks the maid about Yeon-Woo. The maid reveals Yeon-Woo is reading. But Mi-Dam shoots Yeon-Woo when Yeon-Woo tries to climb over the wall. Yeon-Woo meets with Mi-Dam in the room. She explains to her that she went to see her sick friend.

Mi-Dam throws the love novel to Yeon-Woo. She wonders why she doesn’t get married since she likes to read love novels. She asks her to marry a man. But Yeon-Woo mentions the rumor. Mi-Dam blames Yeon-Woo for chasing away the matchmakers.

She asks her to marry herself today. Yeon-Woo begs Mi-Dam to let her live with them. But Mi-Dam rejects it. She leaves Yeon-Woo’s room. Yeon-Woo watches the moon. The maid Sa-Wol brings the snack to Yeon-Woo. Yeon-Woo enjoys the snack. Sa-Wol reminds Yeon-Woo that she will be over if her mother finds out that she’s running a clothes business.

Hye-Sook walks into Tae-Ha’s room when he’s enjoying the beauty’s painting. He conceals the painting. She tells him to get married for his family. Yeon-Woo is happy when she sees his father. He tells her to leave when he sees the book she holds. He thinks she’s going to go to take a class.

She wishes him a good day before she leaves. It makes him laugh. Yeon-Woo gets angry after knowing the clothing store owner doesn’t want to do business with her. He shows the similar design to her. She leaves the clothing store. She intends to catch the thief who stole her designer.

Why King Wishes to Catch the Designer?

Sa-Wol persuades Yeon-Woo not to do clothes business. But Yeon-Woo rejects it. Sa-Wol reminds Yeon-Woo that nobody is going to do business with her. Yeon-Woo watches the show. She finds out that the show introduced her as an ugly lady. She plans to marry herself off.

Court Lady Cho brings the clothes Yeon-Woo designed to the princess. The princess likes the clothes very much. Court Lady Cho shows the clothes she wears to the princess. She reveals she bought herself a dress. The king breaks into the princess’s room.

The king is furious to throw the clothes to the floor. He tells the chancellors that the designer deserves to be killed. Chancellor Park returns home. He tells his wife Mi-Dam that the king intended to catch the designer after the princess wore the designer’s clothes. She’s shocked.

Yeon-Woo decides to marry the ugliest man to clear her bad reputation. She follows the ugliest man. She sees a pair of shoes in front of the house. She tries to take a look inside. But Tae-Ha opens the door and he makes her trip. He catches her before she falls.

He’s shocked when he hugs her. She pushes him away and she asks him what he’s doing. She blames him for opening the door to startle her. He takes a look at her clothes. He finds out that she’s lowly. He thinks she shouldn’t be rude to him because she’s lowly.

Yeon-Woo apologizes to Tae-Ha. She tries to leave. He stops her and he asks her where she’s going to go. She reveals she’s looking for the ugliest man. Sa-Wol shows off her cooking skill to the ladies. But she sees Mi-Dam. She’s startled to avoid her.

She finds out that Mi-Dam came to meet with Hye-Sook. Yeon-Woo tries to leave. But Tae-Ha tells her that he’s going to take her to go to see the ugly bachelor. She follows him to the house. She thinks he told her a lie. He asks her about her name.

She tells her maid’s name to him. He reveals the ugly bachelor isn’t at home. She gets angry after knowing he fooled her. She tries to leave. But she sees her mother. She covers Tae-Ha’s mouth. She hides with him. She touches the broom by mistake.

Hye-Sook hears the sound. She returns to the house. She asks the person to show up. Tae-Ha appears. He explains to her mother that he just passed by. She leaves. The little Yeon-Woo had fun with the little Tae-Ha. She left when the maid called her. He picked up the butterfly pendant she left.

Who Saves Yeon-Woo and Tae-Ha?

Yeon-Woo meets with the seller. She asks him to sell her clothes. Sa-Wol sees the bodyguards. She reports it to Yeon-Woo. The bodyguard arrests the clothing store owner. He burns Yeon-Woo’s clothes. Yeon-Woo arrives. She sees the bodyguard burning her clothes.

She tries to go to stop the bodyguard. But the clothing store owner recognizes her. He tells the bodyguard that Yeon-Woo was the designer. The bodyguards go to chase Yeon-Woo. Sa-Wol takes Yeon-Woo to flee. But she trips. She lets Yeon-Woo run away alone.

Tae-Ha takes Yeon-Woo to hide when she’s chased by the bodyguards. She takes off her veil. She runs away with him. But the bodyguard blocks their way. Sa-Wol pours the soup to the bodyguard. Tae-Ha and Yeon-Woo run away. But they’re blocked by the wall.

The witch shows up. Sa-Wol goes to look for Yeon-Woo. But she’s caught by the girl. The bodyguards arrive when Tae-Ha and Yeon-Woo hide in the palanquin. The bodyguard pulls out his sword. But the witch tells him that she needs to go to see the chief of the Justice Department. The bodyguard leaves. The witch lets Yeon-Woo and Tae-Ha get off the palanquin. Tae-Ha thanks the witch for helping them. Yeon-Woo wants to repay the witch. But the witch thinks Yeon-Woo will repay her.

Episode 1 of The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract ends with Yeon-Woo finding her butterfly pendant from Tae-Ha’s room after he passed away. Someone sneaks into her room and kidnaps her. He throws her into the well. Tae-Ha shows up. He swims to Yeon-Woo.
