The witch Yeo-Ri follows her first love Yoon Gab to the palace in The Haunted Palace Episode 1. But her first love is killed on the road. There’re two first loves appearing in front of the witch. It happens because of a dragon named Gangcheori.
Episode 1
There’s a tale that Gangcheori ends a thousand years of cultivation. He wants to ascend to heaven for becoming an immortal. But he’s seen by a human. Dragon will get bad luck once he’s witnessed by humans. He will turn into a black hornless dragon. His cultivation will be ruined as well.
Gangcheori targets the descendant of the witch Yeo-Ri for ascending again. The girl is outstanding and her soul is pure. She can purify the filth humans bring. Gangcheori will ascend if he possesses Yeo-Ri. So he finds her and he persuades her to throw away the ghost stone.
The ghost stone is the magic item Yeo-Ri’s grandma left to Yeo-Ri. It can make Gangcheori and other ghosts not approach Yeo-Ri. Yeo-Ri is stubborn when she faces Gangcheori. She refuses to give up the stone. She heard it from her grandma that Gangcheori hates humans. There’s no grass in the place after he visits.
Yeo-Ri’s grandma just passes away. She’s an accident when she performs a miracle. The villagers blame Yeo-Ri. They think the village invites disaster because she draws Gangcheori. Yeo-Ri hates Gangcheori more because of it. So she won’t serve the evil dragon.
Thirteen years later, Yeo-Ri grows up. She’s smart and beautiful. But she refuses to inherit witch’s fate. She chooses to conceal her name and she makes glasses for a living. She’s the most famous glasses craftswoman. One day, she visits the master Won-U. She makes a pair of glasses for him. Her eyes are drawn by something. She perceived something strange in the house when she came.
She learns that Won-U’s daughter In-Seon is sick. She doesn’t want to expose her shaman skills. But she sees a one-legged ghost sitting on the rooftop before she leaves. She makes a judgement that the ghost is the etiology of In-Seon. She hears the lady coughing with blood.
Yeo-Ri worries about it. She returns to the mansion. She witnesses one-legged ghost trying to hurt the girl. She takes out a peach wood sword and she points at the ghost. But she has mercy and she persuades him to give up. She knows he feels wronged and he wants to take revenge on the family. But he will be a lonely ghost if he continues to make sins.
One-legged ghost is moved. He reaches out his hand to Yeo-Ri. But he possesses In-Seon and he runs out of the mansion. He plans to die with the girl. Yeo-Ri finds In-Seon in the market. She tries to force the ghost out of the girl’s body with the ghost stone. One-legged ghost is forced to leave the girl’s body. But he swears to take Yeo-Ri’s life.
Yeo-Ri struggles. She wants to pick up the stone. But she sees Gangcheori. He’s joyful when he witnesses her suffering. He tells her to ask him for help if she doesn’t want to die. But she rejects it and she defeats the one-legged ghost.
Gangcheori doesn’t give up. He follows Yeo-Ri and he persuades her to be his vessel. But she’s seen through his trick. She knows he lent his strength to the ghost for getting her body. He admits it and he tells her not to resist. She doesn’t listen to him. She thinks what he did makes the ghost have more sins.
The next day, Yeo-Ri comes to the market. She has a fight with the vendor who sells cow horns. The vendor thinks Yeo-Ri is a bad lucky girl. She refuses to sell it to her for the original price. Yeo-Ri isn’t weak. She threatens to summon all evil ghosts. The vendor is startled. She sells the stuff to Yeo-Ri.
The man Yoon Gab witnesses it. He laughs. Yeo-Ri turns around. She’s shocked. Because the man is her first love. Nobody wanted to play with the dirty Yeo-Ri. Yoon Gab climbed the tree for picking the best persimmon for Yeo-Ri. But she saw Gangcheori stared at her. Yoon Gab fell out of the tree because Gangcheori cast a spell. His leg was broken.
Fortunately, Yoon Gab’s leg recovers. He’s working in the palace and he’s in charge of proofreading books. He feels regrets that Yeo-Ri didn’t become a shaman. He knows Won-U. He’s told that Yeo-Ri is a most famous craftswoman. He wishes her to make a pair of glasses for him. But the owner of the glasses is the king.
Yoon Gab trusts Yeo-Ri’s work. He wishes her to go to the palace with him. Gangcheori follows the two. He overhears the conversation. He yells and he doesn’t wish Yeo-Ri to go to the place. Yoon Gab cannot see the evil god. Gangcheori keeps badmouthing the palace.
Yeo-Ri cannot stand it. She intends to tell Yoon Gab that there’s a dog barking. Gangcheori doesn’t give up. He badmouths Yoon Gab in front of Yeo-Ri. He tells Yeo-Ri that the man is lying to her. She’s annoyed and she says goodbye to Yoon Gab.
She questions Gangcheori what it means that Yoon Gab told a lie to her. He tells her that the guy insisted on taking her to the palace not because she’s a glasses craftswoman. She doesn’t believe it because Yoon Gab isn’t such a person in her memories.
Entering palace is just an excuse. Yeo-Ri cannot forget Yoon Gab. She sees a realm which foretells the future. It shows that she and Yoon Gab will be a couple. She thinks she should go to the palace. Yeo-Ri and Yoon Gab cross the mountainside and they come to the woods. But they cannot get out of the mountain. Yoon Gab worries that there’s a person intending to stop them from entering the palace.
Yeo-Ri comforts Yoon Gab. But she’s known the reason. She thinks it was the bad guy Gangcheori. She makes an excuse to go to pick herbs. She comes to the woods and she’s angry to yell. She asks him to come out. He’s easy to lie in the tree when he listens to her scolding. He’s not moved and he wants to make the two not leave the mountain.
Gangcheori doesn’t play with Yeo-Ri. Yoon Gab has another plan to take the girl to the palace. The young prince Yi Gwang was tangled by the evil ghost. He hurt some people and he was bloodthirsty. Queen Dowager overheard it. The king doesn’t have other ways. He asked Yoon Gab to go out for asking the former minister a favor. Yoon Gab discovered Yeo-Ri in the minister’s mansion. So he planned to take her to the palace. He tried to use her shaman skills to heal the prince.
But there’re some people appearing in the woods. The leader threatens Yoon Gab with the sword. He asks him to speak out the reason why the king asked him to meet with the minster. Yoon Gab refuses to betray the king. So he’s killed.
Gangcheori witnesses it. He comes up with a perfect plan. He possesses Yoon Gab and he appears in the world with the body. Yeo-Ri comes back after she picked herbs. She sees two Yoon Gab in the woods. She realizes that the Yoon Gab who holds sword is Gangcheori.

Gangcheori walks to Yeo-Ri. He picks off the ghost stone with his sword. Yeo-Ri mistakes that Yoon Gab was killed by Gangcheori. Yoon Gab has been a ghost. He questions Gangcheori who he is. Gangcheori sneers. He approaches Yeo-Ri. He asks her to serve him. But he cannot leave the body. She catches the chance to flee. She wants to take back the stone in the tree. But he makes the stone fall into the water. She’s furious to have a fight with him. But the two fall off the cliff.
