Who Is Matthew Lee?
Note: From here on out there are specific plot spoilers for The Escape of the Seven: Episode 13.
Ki-Tak wishes Matthew Lee to be Hwi-So in episode 12. But Matthew Lee confesses that he’s K. Ki-Tak follows Matthew Lee to leave the sea. He shoots the sky. It makes Matthew Lee stop. He asks him who he is when he points the gun at him.
Matthew Lee laughs to admit that he’s K. He praises Ki-Tak for recognizing him. Ki-Tak doesn’t believe it. He beats Matthew Lee and points his gun at him. He yells at him and he asks him why he told a lie to Chil-Sung. He asks him about the whereabouts of Hwi-So.
He summons his followers and he tells them to tie Matthew Lee up. But the followers beat Ki-Tak. They tie him up. The follower hands over the gun to Matthew Lee. He tells Ki-Tak that they only do things for money and power. He beats him. Matthew Lee kills Ki-Tak.
Do the Seven Think They Killed Matthew Lee?
The seven gather at the restaurant after they thought they killed Hwi-So. They tell La-Hui to buy the meal. Jin-Mo worries that Matthew Lee is alive. La-Hui comforts him that it’s impossible that a person can be alive from the sea.
Mo-Ne thinks she doesn’t have to shoot the movie. But Jin-Mo reminds her that Ki-Tak and Do-Hyuk are alive. He wonders how did La-Hui came up with the plan. He believes that she has a helper. But Chul-Woo thinks he doesn’t matter. Because he doesn’t believe that the helper is Ki-Tak.
Mo-Ne tells the seven to get drunk when she pours herself a drink. Jin-Mo gets a call from Paeng-Hee. He leaves the restaurant. He picks up the phone and asks Paeng-Hee if Han-Na is fine. She’s in the hospital. She complains to him that there was a person watching Han-Na.
Who Is Jun-Seok?
He realizes that the person was Jun-Seok. He tells Paeng-Hee to take Han-Na to leave the hospital. La-Hui sees Jin-Mo off. Matthew Lee smiles when he’s in the room. Do-Hyuk wakes up. He sees Matthew Lee. He’s happy to hug him. He’s surprised that he’s alive.
Matthew Lee comforts Do-Hyuk that he wouldn’t die easily. Do-Hyuk plans to go to ask Ki-Tak why he betrayed him. Matthew Lee stops Do-Hyuk. He reveals Ki-Tak is missing. Do-Hyuk believes Ki-Tak’s follower will know the whereabouts of Ki-Tak. But Matthew Lee tells Do-Hyuk that Ki-Tak gave up his follower.
Do-Hyuk takes out the stuff which he found in Ki-Tak’s car. He doesn’t believe that Ki-Tak would betray him. But Matthew Lee tells Do-Hyuk that Ki-Tak betrayed them for money. He worries that Sungchan Group know their plan. Do-Hyuk swears to kill each person who hurts Ki-Tak.
Matthew Lee is happy to ask Luka who he is. She thinks he’s Matthew Lee. But he tells her that he’s Jun-Seok who’s the son of Shim Yong. It flashes back. Jun-Seok rides horse with Shim Yong. His mother praises him. Shim Yong tells Jun-Seok that he prepares a horse for him. He points at the horse. Jun-Seok is happy to hug his father.
Does Jun-Seok Kill Ki-Tak?
Jun-Seok reveals his father’s horse passed away. He opens the room and he walks into the room. He watches Hwi-So from the CCTV. He walks into the cell to see Ki-Tak. Ki-Tak is tied up. He gets angry when he sees Jun-Seok. Jun-Seok thinks Ki-Tak should thank him for not killing him.
Does Hwi-So Get Plastic Surgery?
Ki-Tak asks Jun-Seok how long he has pretended to be Hwi-So. Jun-Seok reveals he heard Ki-Tak and Hwi-So’s talk in the hospital. He replaced Hwi-So to accept the plastic surgery after he gave some money to the doctor. Jun-Seok wonders how did Ki-Tak know he’s not Hwi-So. He thinks his acting was pretty good.
How Does Ki-Tak Know Matthew Lee Isn’t Hwi-So?
Ki-Tak reveals Hwi-So had a phobia of water. Jun-Seok is surprised that Hwi-So couldn’t swim. Ki-Tak thinks Jun-Seok was a fool because he and Hwi-So are different. He remembers Hwi-So told him that he will die after he takes revenge for his daughter.
Ki-Tak tells Jun-Seok that Hwi-So isn’t the one who would be interested in money. But Jun-Seok badmouths Hwi-So. He beats Ki-Tak and he asks him where he hid the money. Jin-Mo finds Paeng-Hee and Han-Na. Paeng-Hee worries that someone is following Jin-Mo.
Why Doesn’t Jun-Seok Kill Hwi-So?
He denies it. She reveals Han-Na was scared. Han-Na comforts her mother that she’s fine. Jin-Mo tells Han-Na to play the hide-and-seek game with him. She touches his hand when he strokes her face. They leave. Ki-Tak realizes that Hwi-So is alive according to what Jun-Seok said.
He thinks Jun-Seok didn’t kill Hwi-So for Do-Hyuk. Jun-Seok admits it. Jin-Mo takes Paeng-Hee and Han-Na to the room. He promises to take Paeng-Hee and Han-Na to leave Korea. He hands over the phone to Paeng-Hee. He tries to leave. But she stops him. She asks him not to get hurt.
He reminds her that he’s a thug. He grabs her hand and he leaves the room. He sees the bodyguards. The bodyguard breaks into the room. He kidnaps Paeng-Hee and Han-Na. Kang-Jae sees his followers carrying Paeng-Hee and Han-Na out of the house. He gets in the car. Jin-Mo breaks the window of the car. He gets in the car and he saves Paeng-Hee and Han-Na. He drives the car away.
Is Han-Na K’s Daughter?
Matthew Lee summons the doctor to his place. The doctor gives the drugs to Ki-Tak. He thinks he’s going to open his mouth. Ki-Tak tries to tell his secret to Matthew Lee. But someone calls Matthew Lee. Matthew Lee finds out that the person who calls him is Jin-Mo.
Jin-Mo asks Matthew Lee to take care of Paeng-Hee. He reveals the girl Paeng-Hee is raising is K’s daughter. He asks him to make sure that K cannot to touch the mother and the daughter. But Matthew Lee asks Jin-Mo not to call Paeng-Hee.
Episode 13 of The Escape of the Seven ends with Matthew Lee kissing La-Hui on the couch. He asks her if she still has feelings for Ki-Tak. She remembers Ki-Tak asked her to do something for her daughter. She tells Matthew Lee that she didn’t like Ki-Tak.
