Cui Shiyi is very happy. But she worries that her mother will know it. She comforts herself that she doesn’t have to listen to her mother because she’s outside. Zhou Tianxing runs into Zhou Shengchen and Cui Shiyi. He notes that Cui Shiyi is on the horse. He asks her what happened.
Cui Shiyi reveals she hurt her ankle by mistake. Zhou Shengchen tells Zhou Tianxing to go to prepare coffin for welcoming Xie Cong. He tells him to find a way to meet with Qin Yan. He asks him to ask Qin Yan about the illness of Xie Cong.
Zhou Shengchen decides to carry Cui Shiyi. Xiao Yan goes to have a talk with deer. Cui Shiyi smiles when Zhou Shengchen carries her. He takes her to her room. He brings the warm water to her. He tries to wash feet for her. But she reminds him that he intends to visit Xie Yun.
He leaves her room and he meets with Xie Yun. He asks him if he remembers who sent him to his palace. Xie Yun remembers it was his adoptive mother. Zhou Shengchen reveals Xie Yun’s mother came from Gao family. He thinks Xie Yun knows why he concealed it from him because he’s very smart.
Xie Yun realizes that Zhou Shengchen did it because he worried that Qi family would hurt him. Zhou Shengchen reveals Xie Cong wanted to conceal it all his life. But Zhou Shengchen doesn’t wish Xie Cong to pass away without his real son to see him off.
He worries that there’s nobody telling Xie Yun the truth if he’s dead. He tells Xie Yun to pay his respect to his father. The eunuch visits Cui Sanning. He tells her that Queen asked Cui Shiyi to marry Liu Zixing. She accepts the present list when he thinks she wants to go against the order.
Cui Sanniang tells the lady to pack the stuff. She thinks they’re going to live outside. Cheng Xi reports to Cui Shiyi that her mother came when Cui Shiyi is shooting. Cui Shiyi is very happy. She thinks her mother has read her letter.
She goes to see her mother with Zhou Shengchen. Cui Sanniang thanks Zhou Shengchen for taking care of her daughter. She reveals Queen arranged a marriage for Cui Shiyi. She intends to take Cui Shiyi home to complete the marriage. Cui Shiyi stands up. She asks her mother about the marriage.
But the lady tells Cui Shiyi to sit down. Cui Sanniang reveals the marriage is about Liu Zixing. Cheng Xi dresses Cui Shiyi’s wound. She wonders how did she get hurt. Cui Sanniang shows up. She tells Cheng Xi to leave. She takes a look at Cui Shiyi’s wound. She thinks she won’t get a scar.
Cui Shiyi asks her mother if she read her letter. She reveals she wants to know what she thinks. Cui Sanniang mentions what Cui Shiyi said that she doesn’t want to get married. She thinks she cannot marry the person she wants to marry.
Cui Shiyi tears up. She asks her mother if she wishes to know the truth. Cui Sanniang shakes her hand. She thinks Cui Shiyi doesn’t have to tell it to her. Because she has seen it. Cui Shiyi cries to tell her mother that she just wants to stay in West State to accompany Zhou Shengchen.

Cui Sanniang reveals someone spread the rumor that Cui Shiyi and Zhou Shengchen got together. She thinks the people won’t miss the chance to badmouth Zhou Shengchen and Cui family. She tells Cui Shiyi to leave West State for Zhou Shengchen. Cui Shiyi tears up. She thinks she cannot convince herself. Cui Sanniang reveals she thought about not to let Cui Shiyi experience the pain.

Episode 16 of One and Only Chinese Drama ends with Zhou Shengchen taking Cui Shiyi to the house. She wants to leave the word “morning” on the painting because it’s morning time. He writes down her name. She smiles at him. Feng Xiao reveals Zhou Shengchen asked her to escort Cui Shiyi. She tells Cui Shiyi that she will see Zhou Shengchen when she leaves the city.
