Light Shop Episodes 3-4 Recap: Dying Patients

There’s an arson case happening in an apartment. The girl who lives in the apartment dies in Light Shop Episode 3. The cop Sung-Sik arrests the suspect at the bus station. The criminal Min-Soo is shocked when he sees the girl. Sung-Sik tries to light the cigarette. But he finds out that his palm covered in ash.

Light Shop: Episodes 3-4

Sung-Sik cannot use his lighter. He doesn’t care for it. He gets a new case. The one who passed away is an old man who lived alone. The forensic investigator thinks the old man died of a heart attack. The Sung-Sik suspects the old man’s death.

He begins to look into the neighborhood restaurants. He notes the mud stains on the scooter in front of the restaurant. He walks into the restaurant and he orders a bowel of noodles. There’s only one person at the restaurant. He’s the restaurant owner.

Sung-Sik sees the food box in the corner. He begins to suspect the restaurant owner. He mentions the old man was killed. He reveals there was a rectangular stain on the floor. He thinks it was left by the takeaway box. He tells the restaurant owner Sang-Hoon that he knows he’s the murderer because he went to the old man’s house.

Sang-Hoon denies it because he thinks Sung-Sik doesn’t have any evidence. Sung-Sik doesn’t give up. He returns to the police station. He finds out that Sang-Hoon actually showed up on the old man’s doorstep. He suspects the man more.

Sung-Sik returns home. He sees the sanitary towels his wife didn’t use. He remembers his wife was tested for pregnancy. He’s lost when he stares at the white trace on the wall. It hung the group photo of him and his wife not long ago.

One month later, Sang-Hoon rides his scooter to chase a girl. Sung-Sik stops the man. He’s shocked when he sees the girl. The girl’s face was burned. She’s the victim of the arson case. She sheds blood and tears. Sung-Sik wonders why Sang-Hoon said that the girl shouldn’t appear there.

He finds out that his eyes are like fox eyes when he fights with him. Sang-Hoon flees. Sung-Sik goes to the light shop. He wants to ask Won-Young about it. Ji-Young is in the store as well. Sung-Sik notes that she left the bloodstain on the floor.

She explains that she’s in her period. He remembers the napkins his wife left at home. He chooses to believe her and he puts his coat on her. She’s silent. She takes a look at the dim bulb before she leaves. Sung-Sik asks Won-Young about Sang-Hoon’s whereabouts.

He mentions the man’s weird eyes. He doesn’t know his eyes are twisted like a monster. His sight is drawn by a bulb. Hyun-Ju goes out for buying bulb. She runs into Ji-Young on the street. Ji-Young thinks Hyun-Ju buys bulb too often.

Hyun-Ju runs into the man Byung-Jin who doesn’t have heater at home. He asks her if she saw a dog who barks. He complains it to her that the dog made him not sleep. She turns on her light and she sees the snow stains on his clothes.

She knows he’s the weird guy Won-Young mentioned. She’s scared to run home. She finds out that her mother Yoo-Hee sits in the living room without turning on the light. She hugs her mother after her mother was silent. She explains it to her that she ran into some weird people tonight. She promises to buy the bulb tomorrow night. She finds out that there’s a scent of flowers on her body.

Hyun-Ju doesn’t know the scent comes from the flowers in the coffin. Her mother doesn’t speak because she mouth was stuffed a cotton. Her mother is dead. Yoo-Hee’s body is put in the Funeral Hall. The mortician Seok-Hui comes to prepare the remains for Yoo-Hee.

Yoo-Hee tells Seok-Hui that she doesn’t want to go to hell. He persuades her to accept her death. He puts her body into the refrigerated cabinet. But she says that the cabinet is too dark. He cheers her up that she will go to a bright place. He believes that she will forget the memories of the mortal world once she reaches the place. She doesn’t want to say goodbye to her daughter. So she cries in the dark cabinet.

Seok-Hui isn’t the only one who’s surrounded by deaths. Young-Ji comes to the hospital to work. She runs into a soaked man Seung-Won in the elevator. He learns that she’s a nurse of ICU. He’s sad to ask her about the patients. He wants to know if the patients can wake up.

He hears the unsure answer from her. The water appears under his feet. Young-Ji finds out that the water comes from the man. He keeps crying. The water level rises in the elevator. Young-Ji is trapped in the water. She cannot breathe. But the man disappears suddenly.

Young-Ji goes to the nurse station. The nurses talk about the alcoholic. Young-Ji volunteers to take care of the patient. She mentions his words that he asked someone to avoid the falling mud. She found out that the man who cannot speak was with the alcoholic. The man was covered in dirt.

Episode 4 of Light Shop ends with the dark of the ward making the alcoholic scared. Young-Ji stays in the ward for guarding him. She tells her secret to him. She ruffles her hair and she shows him the scar which is was covered. It’s the trace that she accepted a surgery.

Young-Ji had a car accident. She was sent to the ICU. She was unconscious. She woke up and she could see some strange people. She knows the alcoholic can see the strange people like her. She reminds him that he cannot return to reality if he steps in the unconscious void.

Everyone is the patient in the ICU. They lost their memories and they struggle between life and death. The bulbs in the light shop are their willpower to survive. The store is the hub when the patients wander between the world of the living and the world of the dead.

Countless nights, the old man who sees through life and death. He’s like a ferryman of souls. He wipes the bulb which means life and death. He guards the life and death realm.
