This is the recap for Kill Me Love Me: Episode 2. We return to ten years ago. Mingrong Jinghe drinks when he’s in his wheelchair. He complains that he can do nothing except resentment. Someone tries to assassinate Murong Jinghe. But she’s blocked by his bodyguard Qing Yan.
The assassin is called. We find out that she’s Mei Lin. Murong Jinghe asks Mei Lin who sent her to assassinate him. She’s angry to leak that it was the 100,000 souls of Blue State. He learns that she was the Blue State person who wasn’t burned by the big fire.
She tells him that the souls of Blue State will send him to hell. He laughs because he’s in the hell. He points at the places nearby her. He tells her that they’re her family. He lets the bodyguards release her. She pulls out her hairpin.
She carries the hairpin and she rushes to him. But he shoots her leg. He thinks the living is a torment to her. He laughs. She stands up and she tries to rush to him again. But he shoots her belly. The jade hairpin drops to the water.

He’s furious to tell her that the his legs were given by the people of Blue State. We see the people beating Murong Jinghe with the stick. Murong Jinghe swears to let Mei Lin taste the taste that she cannot stand up. She tries her best to climb to him when she remembers her father died in the fire. She pushes Murong Jinghe off the wheelchair. They fall to the floor together. Murong Jinghe asks the bodyguards not to take action. Mei Lin takes Murong Jinghe that she lives for killing him. But he tells her that she cannot take revenge with just resentment.

Mei Lin tears up after she remembered the past. She holds the waistband and she swears to let Murong Jinghe pay the blood.
We go to the prince’s mansion. Qing Yan is very happy because Murong Jinghe agreed to paint for him. But he finds out that his master painted the ghost king Zhong Kui. Murong Jinghe asks Qing Yan to take the painting to deal with ghosts. He thinks there will be more ghosts.
Qing Yan pushes Murong Jinghe to move in the hallway. They run into Zi Gu and Mei Lin. Zi Gu plans to take the justice back for Mei Lin. She blames Murong Jinghe for bullying Mei Lin. Liu Zhong overhears it. He’s confused because he doesn’t know who got bullied.
Zi Gu mentions Murong Jinghe promised not to sleep with Mei Lin before the wedding. But he forced Mei Lin to sleep over at his mansion. She thinks Great Flame isn’t an etiquette kingdom. Liu Zhong learns that the the girl who served the prince was a beauty of West Yan last night.
Murong Jinghe asks Mei Lin if he bullied her. She tells Zi Gu that she volunteered to do so. Liu Zhong laughs when he tries to persuade Zi Gu. But she yells at him when she thinks Mei Lin didn’t dare to say that she didn’t volunteer to accept it.
She tries to take Mei Lin away when she protects her. But Murong Jinghe stops them. He thinks he will be boring if there’s no beauty accompanying him on the way. He plays his crossbow. He tries to shoot Mei Lin. But Zi Gu protects Mei Lin with her body. Liu Zhong persuades Murong Jinghe not to do that. Murong Jinghe tells Zi Gu and Mei Lin that they can leave if they play a game with him. Zi Gu accepts the challenge.
The people are in the yard. Murong Jinghe asks the bodyguard to a demonstration for the beauty. He tells him that he will get punishment if he fails to shoot the jade pendant. The bodyguard tells Murong Jinghe that he doesn’t dare to do that. But he still accept the task.
Qing Yan holds his sword when the bodyguard targets Murong Jinghe. The bodyguard shoots the door behind Murong Jinghe instead of Murong Jinghe. The bodyguard tells Murong Jinghe that he can accept any punishment. Murong Jinghe offers to punish the bodyguard’s life.
But the bodyguard doesn’t want to risk his life. He asks Murong Jinghe for his mercy. He thinks he didn’t master his skills. Murong Jinghe thinks the bodyguard is useless. He gives an order to Qing Yan and he asks him to kill the bodyguard.
The bodyguard tries to flee. But Qing Yan catches him. Murong Jinghe catches the chance to shoot the bodyguard’s neck. Mei Lin is shocked after she witnessed it. The bodyguard is dead. He falls to the floor. Zi Ge is scared. But Mei Lin looks calm.
Murong Jinghe asks Mei Lin if she knows the rule. Zi Gu guards Mei Lin when she claims that Mei Lin is her woman. Liu Zhong persuades Murong Jinghe not to kill the beauty of West Yan. Murong Jinghe takes a look at Mei Lin. He laughs and he thinks it’s not funny.
Liu Zhong asks the eunuch to send the princess to the hotel. The eunuch accepts the order. Mei Lin and Zi Gu leave with the eunuch. Murong Jinghe tells Liu Zhong that the person who lies on the floor is the assassin he wanted to look for. Liu Zhong takes a look at bodyguard who was killed by Murong Jinghe.
Zi Gu returns to the hotel. She tells Mei Lin that Murong Jinghe is a demon. She thinks it’s true that the butcher general killed 100,000 citizens. She mentions Murong Jinghe killed his personal bodyguard. She thinks he’s a demon who makes fun from killing people.
But Mei Lin knows the person was the assassin who fought with her last night. Zi Gu persuades Mei Lin to stay away from the demon. She gives her gold hairpin to Mei Lin. She asks her to stab Murong Jinghe’s fourth ribs with the hairpin. She mentions it’s the position of heart and lung. She thinks Mei Lin can kill the prince with just one hit.
Mei Lin laughs. Zi Gu reverses her conclusion. She thinks the position is the heart and lung of cow and sheep. She wonders where human’s position is. She tries to stab herself for knowing the position. Mei Lin comforts Zi Gu that she can protect herself well.
Zi Gu thinks Mei Lin won’t be alive if Mei Lin kills Murong Jinghe. She asks Mei Lin to follow her because she thinks she can protect Mei Lin. Mei Lin thanks Zi Gu. But Zi Gu thinks Mei Lin doesn’t have to thank her when she smiles at her. She grabs her hands. I actually like the princess. She didn’t know Mei Lin’s identity. But she guarded Mei Lin even if she faced the death threat from Murong Jinghe. Mei Lin was moved. She joined the diplomatic group with a task. She told a lie to the princess. Did she feel guilty?
We go to the garden of Murong Xuanlian’s mansion. The follower reports to Murong Xuanlie that Prince Jing fell for a beauty of West Yan. Murong Xuanlie asks the follower to look into Mei Lin. He worries that the people of West Yan will catch the chance to get benefits from it. Murong Xuanlie acts like he cares for his younger brother.
Murong Xuanlie stops the maid when she tries to drive the butterfly away. The minister of soldier department Zhang Yin shows up. He looks anxious and he tries to report something to Murong Xuanlie. But Murong Xuanlie is easy. He invites Zhang Yin to drink tea with him.
Zhang Yin claims that he doesn’t know tea ceremony. But he’s convinced by Murong Xuanlie’s follower. He learns that the tea is called Secret Cloud Dragon. There’re only two cans of Secret Cloud Dragon in the world. But Emperor gave one of cans to Murong Xuanlie.
Zhang Yin asks Murong Xuanlie if Emperor gave another can to Prince Jing. Murong Xuanlie doesn’t reply to Zhang Yin. He mentions Zhang Yin arranged spies around Emperor. Zhang Yin claims that he didn’t dare to do that. He reveals it’s the message the spy sent back from North Jing.
Murong Xuanlie pours Zhang Yin tea. He mentions what he told Zhang Yin to be careful when it’s related to Prince Jing. Zhang Yin agrees to accept the punishment because he knows he made a mistake. But he reveals he worried that Prince Jing will look into the old case of Blue State once Prince Jing comes back. So he sent out the spies.
Murong Xuanlie asks Zhang Yin if Prince Jing got something. Zhang Yin doesn’t know it because the spy was killed by Prince Jing. He asks Murong Xuanlie for a bright path. A butterfly stops on Murong Xuanlie’s shoulder. Murong Xuanlie catches the butterfly.
He mentions the butterfly wouldn’t be caught if she didn’t take action. He kills the butterfly and he throws her into the fire. Zhang Yin is shocked after he witnessed it. Will his fate be like the butterfly. Zhang Yin is very stupid. He asks Murong Xuanlie for a hint.
Murong Xuanlie reminds Zhang Yin that Prince Jing killed the spy because Prince Jing didn’t have any evidence. He thinks Zhang Yin will be killed if he takes action at this time. Zhang Yin remembers Murong Xuanlie’s words. He leaves the pavilion.
The follower Wang Quan joins Murong Xuanlie. He mentions a deposed prince got the reward. He thinks Emperor decides to forgive Prince Jing. Murong Xuanlie realizes that his father favors his younger brother. He thinks there’s only one crown prince in Great Flame even if there’re two Secret Cloud Dragons in the world.
Wang Quan flatters Murong Xuanlie that he’s a true dragon. He thinks Prince Jing won’t be the crown prince because Prince Jing killed citizens. Murong Xuanlie is proud to smile. He knocks over the tea cup.
Zi Gu’s carriage arrives at the capital. The citizens recognize Zi Gu. They think she’s pretty. They see Prince Jing then. They think the butcher doesn’t deserve to be the welcoming bride envoy. Murong Xuanlie drinks tea on the second floor at the tea house. He sees Prince Jing who’s on a sedan chair.
Some kids show up when they sing the song to badmouth Murong Jinghe. Murong Xuanlie thinks his father doesn’t forget the resentment of Blue State citizens. Murong Jinghe is hit by the buns. The guy in the crowd provokes the citizens to kill Murong Jinghe. The citizens are agitated.
Murong Jinghe eats the bun. He laughs. Mei Lin notes it. She grabs her fist tightly. Qing Yan is furious to pull out his sword when he threatens the citizens. But Murong Jinghe stops him. A guy climbs to the carriage and he close the box. He tries to rob the clothes.
But Murong Jinghe shoots the guy. He threatens to kill the person if he takes action. It calms down the citizens. A waistband falls from the carriage. Mei Lin sees the waistband. She remembers the waistband belongs to North Wei Army. The bodyguard picks up the waistband. He puts it back to the carriage.
Murong Xuanlie gives an order to the follower. He asks him to stop the action. The follower accepts the order. He leaves. Qing Yan catches the kids. He reports to Prince Jing that the ones who sang the children song were them. Murong Jinghe is soft to ask the kids who told them the children song.
He teaches them an interesting children song which praises him. Qing Yan tries to give the gold to the kids. But the kids are scared. Murong Jinghe asks the kids if what he gave them is less than the person who gave them. The kid reveals the person gave them five strings of sugar fruits. Silly kids. They don’t know the value of the gold.
Murong Jinghe laughs to tell them that the gold can buy 100 strings of sugar fruits. He asks them to go to tell the people that the Ghost General came back. The kids go to sing the song. Murong Xuanxie hears the song. He’s surprised that his third brother wanted to be a ghost. Murong Jinghe leaves. He has an eye contact with Mei Lin.
Murong Jinghe goes to Emperor’s palace Yanming Palace to see Emperor. Emperor hands over the tea to Murong Jinghe. Murong Jinghe tries to drink the tea. But his father asks him if he hates him for being sent to North Jing. Murong Jinghe puts the tea cup on the table.
He thinks he let his father down because he made the big mistake. But Emperor blames Murong Jinghe for throwing the ghost money when he welcomed the bride. He thinks he planned to ruin the marriage. Murong Jinghe claims that he had many methods if he planned to ruin the marriage. He explains it to his father that he did it for giving the Xiyan Emperor a lesson because he knows the emperor is sly.
Emperor persuades Murong Jinghe not to give Zi Gu a hard time. He thinks the national marriage is meaningless if Murong Jinghe does so. Murong Jinghe accepts his father’s teaching. Emperor scolds Murong Jinghe. He thinks he came back for the old case of Blue State. Murong Jinghe tells his father that he doesn’t dare to do that. He mentions what his father said not to mention Blue State.
The princess Zi Gu moves into Honglu Temple. Liu Zhong reports to Zi Gu that Emperor prepared herb soup for her after Emperor heard that she was startled. She wonders if she needs to go to see Emperor. Liu Zhong thinks Emperor doesn’t have time to see Zi Gu because it’s the anniversary of the late empress.
Liu Zhong notes that Zi Gu is lost. He tells her that Yue Qin lives in Honglu Temple as well. She’s very happy when she thinks she’s going to see her older brother.
The girls walks into Honglu Temple. One of the girls wishes to marry Crown Prince. Mei Lin hears the bells. Murong Jinghe comes to Rongan Palace to pay his respect to his mother Empress Dejia. The guard blocks Murong Jinghe after he received an order from Emperor.
We go to ten years ago. Murong Jinghe comes back from Blue State after his mother passed away. He tries to cross the stairs. But he trips because of the wheelchair. He climbs to his mother’s coffin. He cries to tell his mother that her son came back alive.
Emperor is furious to kick Murong Jinghe. He blames him for wearing the wedding robe. He mentions he took back an empty city. He lets the bodyguards drag Murong Jinghe away. Because he thinks he doesn’t deserve to pay his respect to his mother. Murong Jinghe laughs.
We come back to the present. Murong Jinghe returns to his mansion. He orders the maids not to leave the mansion. The maid complains it in the yard. She thinks the prince worried that the ghosts will come to take his life. Mei Lin overhears it after she sneaked into the mansion.
She witnesses Qing Yan killing two people in the room. She learns that Murong Jinghe was wronged. She sneaks into the room. She finds the waistband from the box. Murong Jinghe wears the wedding robe to go to the Buddhist hall. The lady Lian Xiu asks Murong Jinghe why he didn’t explain it to his father that he wore the wedding robe for keeping the promise. He mentions his father only wants to believe what he wants to believe. He lets Lian Xiu and Qing Yan leave.
Murong Jinghe yells at his mother. He asks her why she didn’t trust him until she died. He thinks he was wrong that he was too kind. He complains it to her that he has regretted for his kindness in the past ten years. He notes that someone is outside. Mei Lin flees.
Qing Yan finds a stray cat outside. He reports it to Murong Jinghe. Zhang Yin walks out of his mansion. He sees the dead who were killed by Murong Jinghe. The servant offers to report it to Crown Prince. Zhang Yin rejects it because he knows Murong Jinghe isn’t his rival.
Mei Lin returns to her room. She’s fast to run to her bed. She puts on the cover. Murong Jinghe breaks into the room. He thinks the room is good for sleeping with a beauty. Mei Lin tells Murong Jinghe that she doesn’t want to get him.
But he tells her that she cannot end the game. She persuades him to wait until the marriage banquet because she thinks she’s his woman in the end. But he doesn’t want to wait for it. He removes the cover. He puts his hand under the cover. He finds out that the cover is warm. He’s surprised.
He sees the scar on her body. She reveals she was burned by fire when she was a kid. She adds that she fears fire. She’s close to him with the fire when she asks him if he fears fire. He takes over the fire from her. He blows out the fire. He tells her that he fears fire as well. The stray cat appears. Murong Jinghe tells Mei Lin not to lose her life. He leaves her room.
Mei Lin remembers what Qing Yan said that the citizens were provoked to break Murong Jinghe’s legs. He thought the citizens committed crimes as well. She gets two waistbands. She hits the table with the waistbands. She finds out that the sound isn’t the same.
Dark Field Master summons Mei Lin. She goes to see him. She greets him. He tells her that the marriage banquet is her last chance. She leaves. Qing Yan joins Murong Jinghe. He asks the prince if Mei Lin was the stray cat. Murong Jinghe isn’t sure.
But he doesn’t want to take a risk. He thinks he must win because Mei Lin’s resentment is the key in his plan. He asks Qing Yan to bury Mei Lin after they complete the plan. He promises Mei Lin that he will take revenge for her.
