Family by Choice: Episode 7 reveals Hae-Joon cries after knowing his mother came but she didn’t take him away. Joo-Won walks San-Ha along the beach. She thinks Hae-Joon is a fool. San-Ha grabs her hand. He thinks she’s a fool as well.
Joo-Won falls to the ground with San-Ha. San-Ha’s heart pounds. They go to catch the bus. They get off the bus. Joo-Won talks with San-Ha about if salt can deal with ghost. They run into Hae-Joon who hides in a corner. San-Ha worries that something bad happened to Hae-Joon’s aunt.
Hae-Joon denies it. San-Ha realizes that Hae-Joon isn’t fine. The three kids sit in front of the convenience store. Hae-Joon reveals his mother paid Jung-Jae back. Joo-Won and San-Ha share their buns with Hae-Joon for comforting him.
Hae-Joon returns home when Jung-Jae is washing shirt in the bathroom. He goes to help him. He notes that his neck was hurt. He mentions his mother paid him back. He plans to work part-time to pay him back. He decides not to see his mother.
Hae-Joon goes to dry clothes. Jung-Jae joins Hae-Joon. He tells him that he doesn’t have to pay him back because he has treated him as his son. But Hae-Joon ignores Jung-Jae. He leaves. Joo-Won witnesses it. She comforts her father that it’s a good news that Hae-Joon told him the truth. Hae-Joon cries alone in his room.
Jung-Jae checks his bankbook at his restaurant. Dae-Wook eats noodles. He brings a good news to Jung-Jae that Jung-Hee planned to go to Seoul. He thinks the poisonous won’t come back. Jung-Jae worries that Hae-Joon’s father will sue them.
Dong-Gu meets with Hae-Joon outside the gym. The coaches come to see Hae-Joon from Seoul. Dong-Gu learns that his son got talent. Joo-Won walks into San-Ha’s room. She sits on his bed. He remembers his heart pounded when he was close to her.
He mentions what he told her not to sit on his bed. But she lies in his bed for provoking him. He drives her out of his room. He closes the door. Joo-Won watches the washing machine. Hae-Joon joins her. She reveals she thinks San-Ha acted weird. She doesn’t know her brother fell for her.
Joo-Won walks into the classroom. She finds out that Jae-Eun is making a talisman for her boyfriend. She and Park Dal make talismans for San-Ha. Park Dal laughs when Joo-Won mentions her feelings for Hae-Joon. Joo-Won prepares chocolates for Hae-Joon and San-Ha before they go to take the exam. She asks Jung-Jae and Dae-Wook to go out for drinking so that she can gather with her brothers. She reveals she invited Park Dal.
Hae-Joon and San-Ha leave the school after they took the exam. San-Ha tells Hae-Joon that Joo-Won is waiting for them on the rooftop. Hae-Joon is excited. They go to the rooftop. They join Joo-Won and Park Dal. The four drink cola and eat barbecue together.
Joo-Won’s hand is burned by the fire. San-Ha is nervous to scold Joo-Won when he uses the cola to give her hand a treatment. He takes her away for the ointment. Park Dal sees Joo-Won off. She worries about her. Hae-Joon comforts her that Joo-Won will be fine.
San-Ha and Joo-Won are in the living room. San-Ha puts the ointment on Joo-Won’s finger. She mentions he told her not to come to his room for the exam. But he tells her that he did it not for the exam. He tries to leave. But she stops him when she asks him for the reason.

She grabs his hand. She asks him to let Hae-Joon and Park Dal stay alone. But he rejects it because he knows something will happen if he continues to stay with her alone. Hae-Joon hands over the meat to Park Dal. He reveals his mother came but she didn’t see him. He confesses it to her that he missed his mother.

He goes to grill the onion. He finds out that she’s crying. He hands over the tissue to her when he wonders why she cried. She reveals she cried because she knew he wanted to cry. He laughs and he reveals he knows she has feelings for San-Ha. Hae-Joon! Do you know the girl love you? You are a fool.
Park Dal denies it. But Hae-Joon doesn’t believe it. She eats the onion. He yells at her because he promised to grill the onion for her. Joo-Won walks out of the house with San-Ha. She hears Hae-Joon’s yell. She runs to the rooftop with San-Ha.
Hae-Joon asks San-Ha to take Park Dal to the bus stop. He claims that he needs to clean the table. Park Dal feels wronged to leave with San-Ha. Hae-Joon and Joo-Won clean the table together. They think each other are stupid. Park Dal and San-Ha are on the way to the bus stop.
Park Dal tells San-Ha that she doesn’t like him. He knows it. He also knows she has feelings for Hae-Joon. He thinks Hae-Joon was stupid. He asks her why she didn’t confess her feelings to Hae-Joon. She reveals she worried that Hae-Joon won’t be her friend if she did so.
Park Dal gets on the bus. San-Ha gets a call from his mother. She asks him to come to the university in Seoul. He rejects it. She thinks he won’t see her until she dies. She hangs up. San-Ha meets with the teach in the office. The teacher suggests him to go to Seoul Medical School. But San-Ha isn’t interested in it. Hae-Joon’s teacher also suggests Hae-Joon to a better school. But Hae-Joon rejects it because he needs to stay to take care of his father.
San-Ha’s teacher has a talk with Dae-Wook. But Dae-Wook wants to respect the kid’s decision. The teacher has no way but to persuade San-Ha. San-Ha walks on the campus. He spots Hae-Joon’s real father Dong-Gu. He tails him. Joo-Won goes to the gym to watch Hae-Joon’s game. Joon-Ho prepares the seat for her. He thinks it will a great chance to approach her.
But she doesn’t like him at all. She even thinks about switching the seats with Park Dal. San-Ha shows up. He ruins Joon-Ho’s sweet dream. He takes his seat and he sits with Joo-Won. The rival is the one who knows Hae-Joon and his father’s restaurant. He provokes Hae-Joon and he looks down on the shoes Hae-Joon wears.
Hae-Joon leads his team to win the game. Joo-Won cheers. San-Ha sees Dong-Gu leaving the gym. He chases him and he stops his car. He blames him for coming to the school. Dong-Gu ignores San-Ha. He drives away. Hae-Joon is going to go to the party with team members after they won. But San-Ha reports to him that his real face came and he had a talk with the teacher. Hae-Joon runs out of the gym.
Joo-Won has a talk with Jung-Jae over the phone. Jung-Jae is very happy after knowing Hae-Joon won. Dong-Gu is waiting for Jung-Jae at his restaurant. He blames him for delaying the kid’s future after knowing Hae-Joon is talented.
Dae-Wook beats Dong-Gu. He mentions Jung-Jae has worked hard for raising the kid after Dong-Gu gave up Hae-Joon. Jung-Jae tells Dong-Gu that he will help the kid go to the United States. But Dong-Gu doesn’t believe Jung-Jae can do that.
Dae-Wook is furious to drive Dong-Gu out of the restaurant. Dong-Gu claims that Hae-Joon is his son when Dae-Wook salts him. Dae-Wook returns to the restaurant. He notes that Jung-Jae is looking at the papers Dong-Gu left. Dong-Gu cries in his car after he got attacked.
He sees Hae-Joon running to him. He stops his car. Hae-Joon yells at Dong-Gu when he asks him if he went to see his father. Dong-Gu takes Hae-Joon to a noodles restaurant. He threatens to ruin Jung-Jae’s restaurant if Hae-Joon doesn’t go to the United States with him. But Hae-Joon doesn’t fear it.
Hae-Joon plays basketball alone in the gym. He thinks about Dong-Gu’s words. He’s furious to throw away the basketball. He receives a message from Jung-Jae who cares for him. Jung-Jae asks Hae-Joon to come home to have dinner. Hae-Joon smiles. He thinks he can drive Dong-Gu away if the guy comes.
San-Ha takes Joo-Won to buy the fish-shaped buns. Joo-Won is told that Hae-Joon’s real father asked Hae-Joon to go to the United States with him for his future. Hae-Joon has dinner at home. Jung-Jae persuades Hae-Joon to go to the United States. Hae-Joon rejects it.
Hae-Joon eats the fish-shaped bun with Joo-Won on the rooftop. San-Ha gets a call from someone. He’s told that his mother had a car accident. He goes downstairs and he reports it to his father.
