Captivating the King introduces Yi In as the prince who’s not trusted by the king. Who is Yi In? Here is what we know.
Being A Hostage for King
Yi In is the younger brother of the king Yi Sun. Joseon is defeated by Great Qing in the battle. Great Qing asks Joseon to let Yi In be the hostage. They threaten to let Yi In be the king if Yi Sun doesn’t do that. Yi Sun has to agree to Great Qing’s plan because he was defeated.
Yi In doesn’t complain about the decision. Yi Sun tells Yi In to come back. The two are close even if their fathers are different. Yi Sun asks Yi In to call him older brother like he did when he was the kid. Yi In cries to say goodbye to Yi Sun.
He asks his teacher Kang Hang-Soon to take care of the king well for him. He believes that he will find a way to defeat Great Qing if he knows the enemy well. Hang-Soon thinks Yi In will be a king because he never gave up. Yi In leaves Joseon with the messenger of Great Qing.
King Doesn’t Trust Yi In
Yi In returns to Joseon after many years. But the bodyguard blocks Yi In when he tries to get into the city. He reveals he received the order not to let in get into the city. Yi In doesn’t know the nation has changed. The chancellor tells the king that he needs to get on knees to accept the present because Yi In brought back the present of Great Qing.
Another chancellor explains it to Yi Sun that the present is the captives Yi In saved. But Yi Sun suspects Yi In more. He thinks his younger did so for showing that he will be a good emperor. He summons him. But there’s no brotherhood between them.
Yi Sun doesn’t trust Yi In anymore. He asks him not to call him older brother. Hang-Soon explains it to Yi In that Jong-Bae made the king not to trust him. Jong-Bae told a lie to Yi Sun that Yi In plans to replace him. Queen Dowager Park worries that Yi Sun will deal with Yi In. She tells Yi In to flee.
Yi In Runs Into A Fan
Yi In plans to take a break by the stream. But he sees some people playing Go. Kang Hee-Soo claims that only Yi In’s Go skill is better than her. But the people believe the rumor that Yi In wishes to be king. Yi In doesn’t explain it for him.
But Hee-Soo takes Yi In’s side. She believes that he listened to the people of Great Qing because he wished to protect the people of Joseon. Yi In is moved after he heard what Hee-Soo said. He thinks the man knows his feelings.
Hee-Soo doesn’t want to talk with the stupid people. She carries the Go table away. Yi In is interested in the man. But he’s told that the person will only tell his name to him when he wins him. But he never lost. Yi In tries to chase Hee-Soo.
But they see Jong-Bae’s follower Yoo Hyun-Bo bullying Hong-Jang. Hyun-Bo questions Hong-Jang. But she claims that she didn’t see Yi In. He tries to beat her. But Hee-Soo throws the Go table to Hyun-Bo. It makes him get angry. Yi In shows up.
He tells Hyun-Bo about his identity. Hyun-Bo has to leave. Hee-Soo finds out that Yi In is her idol. Yi In asks Hong-Jang about Hee-Soo. But she chooses to keep the secret because Hee-Soo is her benefactor. She mentions what Hee-Soo said that she will Yi In will change the nation since he came back.
