This is the recap for Are You the One Episode 4. Liu Miantang and Zhao Quan visit the old man Chen Shi. They walk into the yard. The maid serves them the cakes. Zhao Quan praises Chen Shi for giving himself the nickname Mr. Hating Pen.
Chen Shi reveals he doesn’t want to paint. Liu Miantang lets Fang Xie take out the painting. She reveals she saw a beautiful girl from the dragonfly’s eyes. It was a beautiful girl who held an umbrella. Mo Ru and Cui Xingzhou are in the bamboo forest to watch them.
Mo Ru thinks it’s not related to bandits. He thinks those people are enjoying the painting. Liu Miantang thinks the seal on the painting showing Chen Shi’s skill. She persuades Chen Shi that he will be famous if he leaves the seal on the porcelain of her family.
She reveals her husband didn’t run the porcelain business well. She asks him to help her husband. He wonders if she chose him because of the dragonfly in the painting. She thinks the girl was his wife. She reveals she only loves her husband.
It makes Zhao Quan think Cui Xingzhou is a lucky guy. Liu Miantang promises to hire Chen Shi with a good salary. But he rejects it. She follows him to the tree. He reveals he liked to paint and his wife trusted him like Liu Miantang trusts Cui Xingzhou.
But he did make it after he had painted for ten years. His wife was sick and he didn’t have money to buy medicine. He thinks his wife was like Liu Miantang who pays her everything for a useless person. Liu Miantang tells Chen Shi that her husband isn’t a useless person.
He asks her why the guy didn’t come with her since he wants to run his business well. She tries to explain it. Cui Xingzhou shows up. He asks Chen Shi to help his wife. The people leave the old man’s house. Zhao Quan tries to call Liu Miantang.
But Cui Xingzhou stops him. Zhao Quan blames Cui Xingzhou for ruining the mood when he and Lady Liu enjoyed the painting. He thinks he’s jealous. But Cui Xingzhou blames Zhao Quan for taking Lady Liu to enjoy the paining since he planned to let her take him to look for Lu Wen.
He believes that Liu Miantang will come each day if he didn’t show up. Zhao Quan thinks it’s not his task to catch Lu Wen. He claims that he’s a doctor. He doesn’t wish to see his patient to be used by someone. Cui Xingzhou and Liu Miantang are in the carriage.
He asks her not to go to see Zhao Quan. He blames the guy for making an excuse to take her to see the painter. He thinks she and the guy broke his rules. Liu Miantang apologizes to Cui Xingzhou for only thinking about the store. She thinks he misunderstood her and Zhao Quan.
She mentions Chen Shi only accept the fee of one painting after he came. She asks him if he’s jealous. He denies it. She notes that he was wronged but he cannot tell it to anyone. She claims that she won’t force him because she knows he doesn’t leak.
She believes that they can overcome the hardship if they work together. She persuades him to take Zhao Quan’s medicine. But he doesn’t want to hear the guy’s name. Sun Yinniang and the guy are at the dock. The boatman asks them to get on the boat.
Mo Ru joins General Huang in the woods. General Huang points at the two. He reveals the two are waiting for Liu Miantang. Cui Xingzhou shows up. The guy believes that Liu Miantang cannot go back if she comes. He lets Sun Yunniang decide it.
But she thinks Liu Miantang forgot the mark of Mountain Yang because she doesn’t show up. They get on the boat after they saw the ship. Cui Xingzhou lets his followers get on the boat. General Huang praises Cui Xingzhou. Cui Xingzhou sees Shi Yikuan’s ship.
The madams talk about Huaiyang Prince and Shi Yikuan. One of the madams thinks the two should burn Mountain Yang. The madam shows up. She informs them that the porcelain store of Cui family was opened. The madams walk into Liu Miantang’s store.
Liu Miantang asks them to buy the porcelains. Madam Yin notes that Liu Miantang’s husband isn’t in the store. Liu Miantang explains it to the madams that her husband is studying Go skills. Cui Xingzhou is in the tea house. Mo Ru watches the porcelain store from the tea house. He thinks Lu Wen won’t come. But Cui Xingzhou thinks Lu Wen won’t give up.
A guy shows up on the street. The madams walk out of the porcelain store. One of the madams mentions Chen Tu is missing. Mo Ru reports it to Cui Xingzhou. But Cui Xingzhou thinks it’s not his business. The guy passes by the porcelain store. Liu Miantang invites him to get into her store because he ate three buns in front of the store.
Mo Ru informs Cui Xingzhou that Liu Miantang took their shadow guard into the store. Liu Miantang shows Shadow Guard the design on the porcelain. He buys the porcelains and he reports it to Cui Xingzhou. Cui Xingzhou learns that Liu Miantang didn’t remember the marks.
Fang Xie breaks the porcelain by mistake. She apologizes it to Liu Miantang. Liu Miantang comforts the maid that it’s fine because they only sold one set of porcelains. She plans to close the store. But the customer visits the store and he buys ten sets of porcelains.
Liu Miantang has dinner with Cui Xingzhou at home. She reveals she let Madam Li buy big bones because she ran her business well. She tells Cui Xingzhou that the customer bought all of the porcelains he designed. She asks him to spend more time on the design. She believes that they will eat meat each day if Chen Shi’s design comes out.
Cui Xingzhou thinks Liu Miantang is good at running business. But Officer Chen takes his men to visit Liu Miantang. He asks her to hand over his nephew to him. But she thinks Chen Tu fled. The officer Chen Zhongyuan claims that he can manage everything in the area.
He brags that Huaiyang Prince is his good friend. Cui Xingzhou cannot stand it. He walks out of his house. He asks Chen Zhongyuan what he wants to do. Chen Zhongyuan recognizes Cui Xingzhou. Cui Xingzhou claims that Huaiyang Prince won’t help Chen Zhongyun even if the prince is a good friend of him.
He plans to report it to the prince. Chen Zhongyuan stops Cui Xingzhou. He reveals he just tried to scare the little lady. He leaves with his men. Cui Xingzhou tells Liu Miantang that Huaiyang Prince is a good prince because Chen Zhongyuan left.
But she thinks the prince isn’t good because he let Chen Zhongyuan do anything he wanted to do. She doesn’t trust Huaiyang Prince. Cui Xingzhou is in his room. Mo Ru reports it to him that Shi Yikuan gave him the invitation. Shi Yikuan wanted to come to celebrate Consort Dowager Chu’s birthday.
Mo Ru wonders why Shi Yikuan was attentive suddenly. Cui Xingzhou believes that the bandits left Zhen State to do an important thing. Liu Miantang runs the store. Cui Xingzhou plays Go in the store. Madam Li brings some snacks to the two.
She asks Liu Miantang about her business. Liu Miantang reveals Madam Li was the third person who walked into the store. She thought the porcelains will be sold well since all of the porcelains were sold out yesterday. Madam Li mentions the porcelains were bought by one customer.
Liu Miantang wonders how did Madam Li knew it since she didn’t leak it. Madam Li explains it to Liu Miantang that she got the good news from Fang Xie. Liu Miantang points out that Fang Xie returned her hometown after the store was closed.
She wonders where Madam Li saw the maid. She asks Cui Xingzhou if he knows the customer. He denies it. Mo Ru reports to Liu Miantang that he had been with the master all day. Cui Xingzhou admits it to Liu Miantang that he let his friend buy the porcelains.
Madam Li explains it to Liu Miantang that Cui Xingzhou did it for loving her. It makes Liu Miantang think everything is fake. She tells Cui Xingzhou that she doesn’t want to be tricked by someone. She mentions the person was the one she loves.
She asks him not to trick her. She believes that they will have a good future if they work together. Consort Dowager Chu walks Cui Xingzhou in the Prince Palace. She’s happy to tell him that her blessing comes from him. He promises to manage the Prince Palace well.
But she wishes him to marry Lian Binglan. But he thinks Lian Binglan will guard the position since she tried her best. But Consort Dowager Chu tells her son that Lian Binglan is just a pure girl. Cui Xingzhong’s older brother is in the wheelchair to show up. He mentions Cui Xingzhou prepared a present for Consort Dowager Chu.
Cui Xingzhou and Consort Dowager Chu are at the birthday party. The guests wish them a happy birthday. Fifth Brother thinks there’re very few guests. Shi Yikuan shows up. He wishes Consort Dowager Chu a happy birthday. He drinks the peony wine and he wishes Cui Xingzhou to be a loafer.
Fifth Brother learns that Shi Yikuan came to force Cui Xingzhou to cut down his soldiers. Shi Yikuan mentions Cui Xingzhou cares for the bandits all day. But Cui Xingzhou doesn’t want to slack off. Shi Yikuan reminds the guests that they should benefit the people.
He asks the guests to persuade Cui Xingzhou not to raise so many soldiers. He mentions Empress Dowager and Emperor thought Cui Xingzhou should do that. Cui Xingzhou lets the maid Mo Yao show the map of Zhen State to the guests. He reveals he plans to fix the river paths of Spiritual Spring Town for the people.
Fifth Brother mentions everyone will get benefits from it. Zhao Quan tells Shi Yikuan that he will get benefits from it as well. Consort Dowager Chu is happy to ask Cui Xingzhou to do it. Shi Yikuan laughs. He’s surprised that Cui Xingzhou had a plan.
Cui Xingzhou mentions he let the soldiers be the workers. Shi Yikuan decides to stay to see the river paths. He drinks with the guests. Cui Xingzhou is in the pavilion. Lian Binglan finds him. She brings him the hangover soup she cooked to him.
She mentions Shi Yikuan gave him a hard time. She thinks the guests didn’t know his hardship. It makes him think she knows it. She thinks he will resolve the problem if her father helped him. But he rejects it. He mentions she sent her follower to go to Spiritual Spring Town to buy porcelain.
He wants to help her buy the porcelain. But he’s told that she has bought it. He asks her to let him know if she wants to get something. He leaves. Cui Xingzhou is in the study. Mo Ru gives the papers to Cui Xingzhou. He reports to him that Madam Lian wishes him to give two positions to her two sons.
He reveals Master Lian asked for a meeting up. But Cui Xingzhou doesn’t want to see his future father-in-law. Master Lian learns that Cui Xingzhou doesn’t want to see him. He tells him that he will come tomorrow. It makes Cui Xingzhou angry.

Madam Lian meets with Lian Binglan in the pavilion. She thinks Cui Xingzhou is like his father. She tells Lian Binglan to manage the concubine. Lian Binglan mentions what her follower Shu Mo said that the woman was the bandit’s wife.

She claims that the one who had the birthday was her if she didn’t exchanged marriages with Consort Dowager Chu. Lian Binglan worries that Consort Dowager Chu will hear it because she needs her. She pours the hangover soup into the pool. She thinks it’s not important as long as she can be princess.
