What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim Korean Drama Recap: Episode 1
People talk about Young Joon is a competent man, but he keeps women away from him at the party. Young Joon arrives at the party, and asks what’s wrong with Secretary Kim. His girlfriend doesn’t know what he is talking about.
Secretary Kim walks across the green yard, and ties for Young Joon after arriving his boss’s house. He is in a good mood. Just then she gets a call from Executive Director Jung Jae. He stops her from picking up phone, and thinks he is going to mess up his good mood. He asks him why Jung Jae cannot do a simple thing. She reveals she has never seen a person as perfect as him. He smiles with confident.
Young Joon breaks into office, and scolds Mr. Jo for his fail. He lights a cigarette, but Secretary Kim stops him, and says that he isn’t allowed to smoke inside. Hence, he has to leave the office. Mr. Jo kneels down begging for forgiving. She persuades Mr. Jo not to be disheartened, and thinks he can go home taking rest. He smiles, and stands up to leave. Ms. Im asks Secretary Kim if he can keep the job, but Secretary Kim tells others to clear Mr. Jo’s desk and furniture, and asks Ms. Im if she saw Young Joon gives someone second chance.
Mr. Park tells others the airline business to others, but he cannot calculate the actually number. Young Joon says the number, and ends the meeting. Everybody is relaxed after he left. Young Joon thinks Secretary Kim’s English skill is improved a lot in his help while they’re in elevator, but she mentions he embarrassed her and scolded her when she made the mistakes.
They show up at a party, Young Joon speaks English and Spanish without any problem. Meanwhile, he looks at a group of ladies. They ladies think he is interested in them, but he just looks at the mirror behind them. Secretary Kim comes to him, and says that ambassador is waiting for him.
He thins she did great while she was in the party, and wants to compensate her achievement, but she tells him that she is going to quit. He accepts it after she didn’t tell him the reason. But he cannot fall asleep at night. Chi In tells others that Secretary Kim is going to resign while they’re in office. But nobody believe it, and Se Ra thinks Young Joon cherishes her. Just then Miss. Kim comes in, and confirms the rumor in person. Se Ra thinks she will get Miss. Kim’s position, after she resigns because her good looking.
Young Joon asks Secretary Kim why she has to resign again, but she doesn’t tells him, and says that she will post a job advertisement asking him to interview them. Se Ra comes to Miss. Kim with plenty of foods, and asks to have lunch. But she needs to head out, and leaves. Se Ra throws the food on the desk, and claims she is a busy woman as well.
Young Joon asks Mr. Park the reason Secretary Kim wants to resign. Mr. Park thinks he needs a breakthrough since she has been working for him over nine years, and reveals the love experience of him and his wife in the past nine years. Young Joon thinks Mr. Park got divorced because he wasn’t breakthrough.
Secretary Kim gets a call from Young Joon when she is doing the loan payment in the bank. She runs fast, and almost trips. She asks him why he asked her to come all of sudden while they’re in the car, he says, “breakthrough!” She doesn’t know what he means.
He tells her that he never gave others second chance, except her, and reveals he is going to the get the director position for her. His mother welcomes them, when she wants to refuse his offer. Young Joon asks his parent, “Did you experience burnout during your marriage?” Mother shoots a eye to father, and thinks there is nothing that communicating cannot resolve. Father is sad and thinks he is going to die after knowing his son isn’t internal to get married, and says that Secretary Kim is going to resign. Young Joon promises that he won’t let that happen.
Mother thinks his son is a gay after knowing Young Joon didn’t touch women he dated. Miss Kim denies it. Mother laughs, and wants to marry off his son to a woman like Secretary Kim. Just then Young Joon shows up, and asks to leave.
Young Joon asks Miss Kim, if his mother bothered her. She reveals his mother want them to be in relationship. He asks her if she was excited, she denies, and reveals she doesn’t want to be involved in it so that she asks to resign. He is shocked.
Secretary Kim tells his sisters that their father borrowed money from loan shark, and reveals she resolved it with her car. Mr. Park laughs after hearing what Ms. Kim did on Young Joon at the family meeting, and thinks there is a trigger that made her resign. Young Joon realizes it’s because of his girlfriend Ji Ran. Just then Ms. Kim sneezes, her sister asks her why touched flowers since she is allergic to pollen.
Ji Ran asks Young Joon for some flowers after running into at the party. Secretary Kim runs to flower shop, and gets a big bouquet of flowers. But she keeps sneeze when holding the flowers, and is in tears while Ji Ran receives the flowers.
Young Joon tells Mr. Park that Ms. Kim falls for him, and reveals she cried when Ji Ran got the flowers. Meanwhile, Secretary Kim tells her sisters that Young Joon won’t love anyone, as he loves himself so much. She reveals she is going to resign, and gets a call from her boss. But she is scared by a spider when she gets car key, and asks her sister Pil Nam, “Didn’t i get lost when i was young?” Pil Nam denies.
Ms. Kim sneezes at Young Joon when he hands over flowers to her. She is nervously to take it in the trunk. He thinks she is touched while she fans her tears, and tells her that he didn’t sleep with Ji Ran, giving her a day off. She is excited. He asks her why she has to resign since she doesn’t have any plan after leaving company. She reveals she wants to have her own life.
Secretary Kim is happy after waking up, because she slept well last night. Young Joon throws her resigning letter at the desk after looking at for a while. She calls her friend Ji Hyun, and asks for meeting up in the evening. She mistakes calling her name Kim Mi So as Secretary Kim because of habit.
Young Joon is eating Mr. Park’s red ginseng at his office, he sighs and tells him that she wants to get her live back, and thinks it’s her live since they live together over nine years. Mr. Park thinks he doesn’t have bother it since he doesn’t fall for her. Ms. Seol comes to Mr. Park’s office, and hands over the weekly report. She asks to heat up the ginseng for him, and thinks he needs to drink warm ginseng, sprinkling it to his face. He thinks she warmed his heart, and asks her if she wants to quit the job. She denies, and claims that she will always be by his side.
Young Joon asks Secretary Kim, “Is she Secretary Kim or Kim Mi So?” when she is worrying about him. She doesn’t know what he means. Just then a guy shows up, saying that the applicant for the secretary position is ready. Young Joon asks her to interview the applicant with him.
The applicant Kim Ji Ah wants to get the job since it pays well, but Mi So reminds her that she will has no life. Ji Ah promises that she will do her best if she gets hired. Young Joon hires her, and asks Mi So to train her as her clone. Mi So tells him that she wants to dating and get married.
The man’s handkerchief and tie drop off from Mi So’s bag when she meets up with her friends, she tells them it belongs to his boss, and reveals it’s how she lives. Her friends reluctantly smile. She smiles while seeing parents playing with their children in the bus.
She packs all of Young Joon’s stuff in the box after returning home, and writes, “The most important thing is make time for yourself as a secretary.” Young Joon asks what’s the matter with Secretary Kim when he is meeting up with Ji Ran. She gets angry, and thinks he shouldn’t talk about a woman in front of her.
He comes to visit Mi So when she is enjoying her beer, and wants to talk outside when she lets him in. He claims that he will marry her since she wants to resign to get married.
Review
Secretary needs to have her own life, this is What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim Korean drama wants to tell us. Park Min Young’s role Mi So is a successful woman in her friend’s eyes, but they don’t know it until they see her boss’s personal items dropped from her bags. She has no personal life, and friends as well. This is why her friend doesn’t know who is her when she calls her. She lives as Secretary Kim too long, hence her signature is still Secretary Kim when she signs the loan payment in the bank.

Park Seo Joon’s role Lee Young Joon never thought about Park Min Young’s leaving in What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, this is why he isn’t comfortable when she wants to quit. In the beginning, he uses money and position to seduce her. Then he mistakes thinking she falls for her, because she teared up when he asked her to get flowers for another woman. But she is just allergy to pollen.
He has no way to keep her in the end of first episode of What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, but to use his love. She knows he loves himself more than others, but she is stunned when he wants to get married with her. She is desperate to get married, and has baby with her lover. This is why she feels happiness when seeing the children in the bus.
Fortunately, Park Seo Joon’s parents want a daughter-in-law like Park Min Young, even if she owns debts because of her father. The problem is Park Min Young doesn’t realize that she loves Park Seo Joon. Although he wants to get married with him, it’s just because he wants to keep her as his secretary. I really dislikes Park Min Young’s two older sisters, they only care about the grilled pork while eating up, and let the younger sister to pay off the debt, since she spent his youth to pay off the debts. But Park Min Young blames Park Seo Joon more for it, and thinks he makes her has no personal life, since it’s not his business, and pays her well.
