Li Shimin tells Khan that he doesn’t fear battle in The Long Ballad: Episode 21. He persuades him not to bury the prairie boys in the foreign land. Khan claims that prairie boys fight for the faith. Li Shimin learns that Khan has the determination. So he offers not to retreat.
Episode 21
Li Shimin tells Khan that he wants to give him to chance if he regrets. He rides away. Li Changge runs into Ashina Sun in the woods. He drags her away. Li Shimin returns to his tent. Wei Shuyu apologizes to Li Shimin for not stopping the princess.
Li Shimin sighs. He thinks it’s a good thing that Li Changge is alive. Wei Shuyu leaves the tent. Du Ruhui, Fang Xuanling and Wei Zheng break into the tent. They worry about Li Shimin. Li Shimin comforts Du Ruhui that he’s fine. Du Ruhui persuades Li Shimin not to do it next time. Wei Zheng congratulates Li Shimin. But he thinks they should wait for the result until tomorrow.
Ashina Sun drags Li Changge into his tent. He disallows her to leave his tent. She thinks he wants to force her. He reveals he didn’t want to fight. Khan and the prince walk into the tent. Khan orders Ashina Sun and the prince to shoot Li Shimin after the peaceful banquet.
Ashina Sun doesn’t want to do that. But he still accepts the order. Khan and the prince leave the tent. Li Changge sees them off. She persuades Ashina Sun to give up his plan. But he insists on taking part in the action. She mentions what he said that he won’t ruin Eagle Division there.
He yells at her that he cannot disobey Khan’s order. He points out that others will take part in the action. He thinks nobody can stop the assassination. She says goodbye to him and she tries to leave. He takes her arm and he asks his followers to lock her up in the tent.
She’s furious to blame him. She thinks he has no right to do it to her. He claims that her life belongs to him. She’s taken away. Wei Shuyi is outside the tents. He remembers Li Changge told him that he’s the one who thinks what he did is right. He thinks the beauty doesn’t know his heart. He swears to find Le Yan.
Le Yan is with the refugees in the woods. She keeps a distance from them. She tries to open the baggage. But the little beggar shows up behind her. It makes her scream. She sees the fish. He claims that the fish belong to him. He refuses to share it with her.
He coughs when he tries to walk away. She thinks he catches a cold. He denies it and he lights a bonfire. She wants to eat his mushroom. She offers to use her pancake to exchange it. He rejects it. She thinks the mushroom isn’t delicious. She tries to leave.
He throws a stone at her. It makes her turn around. She scolds him. He invites her to eat the mushrooms with him. She learns that his name is Wu Ye. He lost his parents when he was a kid and his friends were killed because they stole. She cries because she thinks she can do nothing to them.
A man rushes to Wu Ye and Le Yan with a stick. Wu Ye takes Le Yan to flee. But Le Yan trips when she runs. She’s hit by the man for protecting Wu Ye. Wu Ye asks the man to forgive them. But the man beats Wu Ye. He walks away. Le Yan worries about Wu Ye because he just vomited. He claims that he’s fine.
The next day. Le Yan wakes up. She finds out that the refugees left. She tries to wake Wu Ye up. But he wants to sleep for a while. She finds out that he has a fever. Li Shimin is going to leave. Du Ruhui worries that Ashile Tribe will do something to Li Shimin. He tries to hand over the helmet to the emperor.
But Li Shimin rejects it. He asks Du Ruhui and Wei Zheng to support Crown Prince if something bad happens to him. He walks out of his tent. She Er joins Ashina Sun outside. He tells him not to waste his time because he sent in his elite troops. Ashina Sun refuses to accept his failure.
Li Changge is tied up in the tent. She remembers the lord told her what he guarded were the citizens. She cuts off the rope and she walks out of the tent. He gets a horse. Li Shimin and Khan have a meeting by River Wei. They drop their weapons. They walk to each other on the bridge. They have a seat.
Li Shimin releases the captive after he learned what Khan wants to get is peace. Ashina Su targets Li Shimin. But the follower reports to him that Li Changge fled. Li Changge shoots Li Shimin’s tea cup when he drinks with Khan. Wei Shuyu leads his troops to guard Li Shimin.
Li Changge is arrested by the soldiers of Ashine Tribe. Wei Shuyu blames Khan for assassinating Li Shimin. Khan claims that it’s a plot. She Er joins the soldiers. He asks them what happened. He learns that the bodyguard shot in advance. He doesn’t know the bodyguard is the girl Li Changge. He asks his followers to take away the bodyguard.
Li Shimin scolds Khan. He thinks he doesn’t want to cherish the chance. Khan claims that it’s a misunderstanding. Du Ruhui is furious to ask Khan to explain the arrow. He blames him. He lets the soldiers around him. He threatens not to release him if he doesn’t ask his troops to retreat.
Khan gives a retreat order to the captive. He asks him to tell his troops to retreat. The troops of Ashina Tribe receive the order. They retreat. But the general Xi Biduo stops the troops. He thinks it’s a good chance to make a surprise attack. Because Tang Army mistakes that they retreated.
The captive thinks Xi Biduo wants to rebel. Xi Biduo claims that they will get the whole empire if they do so. He tries to lead the warriors to go to attack Tang Army. But he’s killed by Ashina Sun. Khan leaves Tang Camp. Du Ruhui congratulates Li Shimin on being blessed by heaven.
Wei Shuyu hands over the arrow to Li Shimin. Li Shimin takes a look at the arrow. He thinks the person has a great shooting skill. Because the guy shot the wine glass in his hand. He orders to send a follower to look into the person. He thinks the person is a righteous hero who wants to join Great Tang.
Khan returns to his tent. He’s furious to ask for seeing the trash who shot by mistake. Li Changge is taken to see Khan. He wants to kill her. She Er and Ashina Sun show up. Khan asks She Er if he trained the soldier. Li Changge explains it to Khan that she made the mistake because she wanted to take credit for She Er.
She Er slaps Li Changge. He questions her why she wears the clothes of Wolf Division. He thinks he didn’t see her before. She mentions there were many warriors in Wolf Division. She thinks he wouldn’t know a nobody like her. She claims that she’s loyal to Khan.
She tells Khan that her family was killed by Li Shimin. She asks him for a chance to kill Li Shimin. She Er asks Li Changge to tell him the truth why she wears the clothes of Wolf Division. He threatens to take her life. She points out that he wouldn’t deny that she’s a person of Wolf Division if she killed Li Shimin.
Khan laughs when he thinks She Er trained Li Changge. But She Er blames Ashina Sun for wronging him. Shixin Sili reports to Khan that Ashina Sun killed Xi Biduo when Xi Biduo tried to rebel. Khan scolds She Er. He thinks he wanted to rebel as well.
She Er gets on knees to his uncle. He explains it to him that he didn’t react. Khan scolds She Er. He thinks he’s a trash. He praises Ashina Sun then. Ashina Sun catches the chance to ask Khan to forgive Li Changge for the soldiers’ spirit.
Khan agrees to it. He tells She Er to take away his man. Li Changge leaves with She Er. Le Yan sings for Wu Ye. He wakes up. He learns that others left. He persuades her to go to chase those people. But she rejects it. Because she has treated him as her younger brother.
Ashina Sun meets with his followers in the woods. He reveals Li Changge was taken away by She Er for protecting Eagle Division. He swears to save Li Changge. She Er shows up behind him. She Er learns that Li Changge is Ashina Sun’s man. He threatens to open the person’s mouth. He walks away.

Li Shimin gathers the ministers for talking about the arrow. Wei Zheng reveals Li Changge went to Ashine Tribe before the peaceful meeting. Li Shimin learns that the one who saved him was Li Changge.
