Is Gu Jin Dead?
Note: From here on out there are specific plot spoilers for The Last Immortal Episode 40.
Gu Jin is dead. He sacrifices his chaos core to seal Ming Qi. He disappears in Feng Yin’s arms. He cannot be resurrected because he doesn’t have a chaos core.
Gu Jin and Feng Yin fight with Devil God Ming Qi. But they’re not Ming Qi’s rivals. Gu Jin summons Soul Sword. He asks him to accompany him. He rushes to Ming Qi. He fights with him. Ming Qi tells Gu Jin not to come to give out his life because he’s just a empty shell.
Gu Jin tells Ming Qi that he doesn’t wish him to ruin Three Realms. Because there’s someone he loves most. He takes out his chaos core and he sacrifices it. He takes a look at Feng Yin. He seals Ming Qi. Feng Yin runs to Gu Jin. She hugs him.
She holds his head. She cries to tell him that she’s going to take him to return to Great Lake Mountain. But he thinks he had no other choices. He feels regret for not accompanying her until the end. He disappears. Feng Yin asks Feng Yuan to save Yuan Qi. But Feng Yuan tells Feng Yin that she cannot save Yuan Qi because he sacrificed his chaos core. Bi Bo reveals Gu Jin cannot be resurrected because Gu Jin doesn’t have a chaos core.
Who Resurrects Gu Jin?
The person is Devil God Ming Qi. Ming Qi has been treated as a evil god since he was born. He wants to change his fate. But he cannot resurrect Gu Jin without his soul. Gu Jin put his soul in A Yin’s body for saving her. Xiu Yan takes out the soul from Feng Yin’s body.
Feng Yin flies to the gate of God Realm. He tries to open the gate. Yan Shuang, Hong Yi and other immortals join Feng Yin. Feng Yin tells her friends to leave because she doesn’t wish to get them involved. But Yan Shuang tells Feng Yin that she wishes to save Gu Jin.
Hong Yi tells Feng Yin not to die. True God Yi He tells Feng Yin that she cannot save Gu Jin. She reminds her that she cannot reach God Realm because she’s not a god. Feng Yin is hit by the thunder. Xiu Yan visits Ming Qi. He asks him to save Yuan Qi.
Ming Qi mentions Yuan Qi sealed him. He tells Xiu Yan that he wishes to kill Yuan Qi. Xiu Yan knows Ming Qi thinks he should go against everything because he’s a demon. He reminds him that demons were created by Ancestor God. He thinks he can change his fate.
Xiu Yan tells Ming Qi that Yuan Qi can come back if he helps Yuan Qi. He thinks it can prove that fate can be changed. But Ming Qi points out that he won’t get any benefits. Xiu Yan reveals Yi He is waiting for Ming Qi. Feng Yin tears up when she misses Gu Jin.
The god visits Feng Yin. He reveals he’s going to return to God Realm with Hong Chou. He leaves Three Realms to her. She promises to guard Three Realms for Gu Jin. Feng Yin becomes Heavenly Queen. The immortals pay their respect to her.
Feng Yin thinks it’s a punishment to her that she lost her lover forever. The immortal reports to Feng Yin that Xiu Yan invited her to Purple Moon Mountain. She goes to see Xiu Yan. She wonders why he asked her to meet with him at the place.
He reveals the only one who can save Gu Jin is at the place. Xiu Yan persuaded Ming Qi to take the chance to get freedom. Ming Qi agreed to it. Xiu Yan tells Feng Yin that only the core of Devil God can help Gu Jin shape his godhead. He adds that Yi He will give the life to Gu Jin once Gu Jin gets his godhead.
Feng Yin is surprised that only Ming Qi can save Gu Jin. She asks Xiu Yan if Ming Qi is going to save Gu Jin. Ming Qi shows up. He tells Feng Yin that he wants to give it a try. Xiu Yan reveals Yuan Qi gave his god soul to Feng Yin for helping her be reborn.
He tells Feng Yin that the god soul can save Gu Jin. He takes out the god soul from her body. She cries when she holds the god soul. She’s surprised that Gu Jin has been on her side. Ming Qi takes out his demon souls. The demon souls get into Gu Jin’s god soul. The god soul disappears.
Feng Yin worries about it. Xiu Yan comforts her that Yuan Qi’s chaos core returned to the soul pool. She wonders when Yuan Qi will come back. Ming Qi tells Feng Yin to wait for the chance. Xiu Yan takes out Soul Tower. He reveals there’s Yuan Qi’s chaos power in the tower. He believes that Soul Tower will react if Yuan Qi resurrects.
He tells Feng Yin to take Soul Tower to absorb the powers of all living things. Feng Yin gives her position to Ao Ge. Ao Ge becomes Heavenly Emperor. Xiu Yan returns to Ghost Realm. He becomes Ghost King. Feng Yin goes to Monster Realm. She remembers Gu Jin told her that the monsters would take away her core. She sees the immortals and the monsters train together. Because they have been friends. Feng Yin takes out Soul Tower to absorb the peaceful powers of immortals and monsters. She wishes Gu Jin to take a look at it.
Does Yan Shuang Marry Hong Yi?
Yan Shuang marries Hong Yi. She plans to delay the wedding because she wishes to marry Hong Yi until Gu Jin comes back. But her father wishes to get a grandson. Sansheng Shi is also in love with Ao Ge. They’re tied up by the love thread.
Hong Yi plans to give the wedding invitation to his master Yu Feng. But Yan Shuang wishes to give out the wedding invitations later. He complains to her that Lian Xi’s son can walk. It makes her thinks he’s jealous. She gets angry. He comforts her that he knows she doesn’t want to get married because she doesn’t wish Feng Yin to be alone.
But he points out that he doesn’t know when Yuan Qi will come back. He reveals Yan Shuang’s father cannot wait for it. He adds that her father pushed him each other. He believes that Feng Yin will understand it. He tells Yan Shuang to give the wedding meal to Gu Jin when Gu Jin comes back.
Yan Shuang agrees to it. She decides to take the chance to meet with old friends since Feng Yin has been lonely. Hong Yi is happy to kiss Yan Shuang. Feng Yin does Yan Shuang’s makeup. They smile when they look at them in the mirror.
Yan Shuang shows up at the wedding. She lets Hong Yi hold her hand. They get married. Hong Yi takes off Yan Shuang’s wedding veil. She kisses him. She asks the guests to rob the wine. Sansheng Shi tries to rob the wine. But Ao Ge stops her. He feels regret for not letting her stay in Ghost Realm. He wishes Hong Yi and Yan Shuang a happy marriage. We finds out that Ao Ge and Sansheng Shi are tied up by the love thread.
Does Gu Jin Come Back?
Gu Jin comes back. He finds Feng Yin in the woods when she’s waiting for him. Soul Sword comes back as well. Devil God gets what he wants. Because he wishes to change his fate.
A Yu asks Fu Chen to share the wedding wine with the guests. But he rejects it. Soul Sword thinks Fu Chen hasn’t changed that he likes wine very much. He takes over the wine from Fu Chen. He plans to share the wine with the people.
A Yu is surprised to see Soul Sword. He asks him if Yuan Qi came back. But he refuses to leak it. Feng Yin takes out Soul Tower. She turns around. She sees Yuan Qi. She tears up. Ming Qi visits Xiu Yan. He asks him to let him take the trial. Xiu Yan agrees to it.
Does The Last Immortal Have A Happy Ending?
The Last Immortal has a happy ending. Episode 40 ends with Gu Jin coming back. He gets together with Feng Yin even if he sacrificed himself to seal Devil God. Yan Shuang and Hong Yi also get together. The villain Hua Mo is killed by his daughter Hua Shu. Hua Shu becomes a good girl after finding out that Lan Feng loved her deeply.
